Core Objectives
The Lifting Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the set-up, maintenance, and safe and efficient operations of the crane equipment. He/She will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all lifting activities in accordance with regulations and is required to be present during all lifting operations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating and supervising all lifting activities in accordance with the Lifting Plan.
- Briefing all lifting team members on the Lifting Plan, risk control measures, and safe lifting procedure before the commencement of any lifting operation.
- Ensuring that only registered crane operators, appointed riggers, and appointed signalmen to participate in any lifting operation involving the use of mobile and tower cranes.
- Ensuring that the ground conditions are safe for any lifting operation to be performed by mobile cranes.
- Be present during all lifting operations and
- If unsafe conditions are reported to him, to takes suitable measures to rectify the conditions so that the lifting operation can be conducted safely.
- Apply the latest technology to improve operations in own work areas
- Apply methods and techniques to manage dangerous goods as well as the time and temperature of sensitive cargo
- Operate communications equipment and radio channels
- Operate technology/ electronic tools and devices
- Perform Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) activities to ensure personal compliance with requirements
- Perform basic risk assessment
- Perform cargo/ material handling security procedures
- Perform operations within resources and cost allocation
- Perform safety and health risk assessment
- Prepare cargo for transfer operations
- Report WSH incidents
- Suggest WSH solutions address localised shortcomings in existing processes
- Support the department in incident/ crisis management initiatives
- Troubleshoot facilities, equipment, infrastructure, and systems to determine malfunctions, damage, and maintenance needs
- Use cargo lifting and rigging equipment
- Work with team members to support technology projects.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must have a minimum work experience of 5 Years with heavy lift cranes from 30Ton – 500Ton capacity
- Must be systematic and mechanically inclined, in order to use and operate the lifting equipment as well as execute operations
- Must be able to work in rotating shifts and under time pressure
- Required lifting supervisor safety, supervisor safety certificate
- A deeper understanding of load charts, different types of jibs, lifting clamps, and load angles/lifting angles
- Knowledge of different types of rigging methods and selection of different types of lifting gears for any special needs
- Experience in heavy lifting objects
- Understand different types of lifting clamps and their safe usage
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills

- Team player and able to work independently with minimal supervision
