Job Purpose
We are seeking to appoint a capable and enthusiastic Data Operations Lead to join the Data Team for our client. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Data Manager and other team members to ensure that the data function effectively supports the implementation of projects.
The ideal candidate should hold a BSc in Computer Science or a related field, with postgraduate training in clinical research data management being an added advantage. They should demonstrate strong technical expertise in database design and administration, experience in clinical data management within a research setting, and a working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
He/She will manage day-to-day data activities for assigned studies, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), while supporting high-quality data collection, validation, and reporting.
Principal Responsibilities
– Manage day-to-day data activities for assigned studies in line with GCP and SOPs.
– Collaborate with the Senior Data Manager and study teams to develop and implement study-specific data management plans.
– Maintain and manage databases for assigned studies.
– Enter questionnaires, laboratory results, and other study data into relevant databases.
Specific Responsibilities
– Develop study-specific data management plans and design, validate, and maintain clinical trial databases.
– Perform double data entry verification and update study databases accordingly.
– Raise, track, and resolve data queries accurately and in a timely manner.
– Update databases with resolved queries.
– Ensure proper handling, charging, and storage of electronic data collection devices (tablets/smartphones).
– Provide regular progress reports to the Senior Data Manager.
– Enter and manage data using various software applications.
– Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, IT, ICT, or a related field
– Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access
– Good understanding of programming concepts
– Experience with data management systems such as OpenClinica, OpenDataKit (ODK), and/or REDCap
– Experience working in a health research environment
– Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and work independently
– Strong communication and organizational skills, with flexibility to travel as required
– Proficiency in IT systems
– Experience with statistical/data management tools such as STATA or R
Desirable Requirements
– Experience in data entry, data cleaning, and data management
– Experience in mobile application development/programming
– Experience with Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems
– Strong interest in building a career in data management
