Core Objectives

The purpose of the role is to support staff in terms of service delivery and providing IT systems advice. The post holder will act as the GPS expert in the functionality of the use of the devices and their supporting software giving relevant advice and guidance. GPS Controller will be responsible for monitoring all activities from a centralized control room relating to driving activities in and around their work region.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, and leading the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, removal of equipment, and fleet management. He/she will control the installation of speed limiter and GPS devices, and following the after-sales services
  • Monitoring all activities from a centralized room relating to driving activities in and around their work region
  • Develop GPS core business applications in line with the ICT Strategy, including working with managers/users/third parties to analyze working practices and develop innovative and achievable solutions
  • Support the effective management and functioning of GPS applications, including systems monitoring, security administration, maintaining documentation, assisting with the planning & coordination of system software releases & patches, and maintenance & development.
  • Support the effective management of the business continuity plan by contributing key information regarding the functioning of GPS applications.
  • Use your own initiative to deliver productive support to business users by investigating, reporting, and resolving system issues, errors, and data discrepancies
  • To assist the General and Commercial Manager in ensuring the necessary procedures and policies are in place and followed to support users throughout GPS in developing and implementing systems and applications
  • Extract data and compose reports via business intelligence tools, communicating this effectively to users on a regular basis.
  • To provide support, technical guidance, and training to GPS staff.
  • Liaise closely with the ICT teams in relation to GPS systems and issues.
  • Assist with the implementation of various ICT projects.
  • Promote and support the proactive use of ICT across the business to improve the staff/customer experience and encourage users to take a more active role in ICT use.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Marketing department
  • Manage health and safety issues and training in your area of responsibility in line with the relevant section(s) of the relevant Health and Safety Policy.
  • Comply with company confidentiality and information security policies at all times.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT / Business Administration related field
  • A background experience in transportation and/or logistics with excellent computer knowledge
  • A good understanding and working knowledge of GPS and fleet management
  • System analysis and ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to business issues
  • Using own initiative plan and prioritize workload effectively
  • Well-organized and decisive
  • The ability to work well under pressure and deal with conflicting demands.
  • Good research, numeracy, analytical and concentration skills
  • Good leadership skills and a team player
