Junior Agronomist – Rice Farming

Location: Magu, Tanzania
Reports To: Farm Manager / Senior Agronomist

Job Summary:
A fresh graduate or entry-level agronomist responsible for assisting in the management of rice cultivation activities. The role focuses on learning and applying best practices in rice farming to improve productivity and ensure sustainable crop production.

Key Responsibilities:
– Assist in soil testing and analysis for rice fields.
– Support the planning and implementation of rice planting schedules and irrigation.
– Help monitor crop health, growth, and yield.
– Support pest, disease, and weed management under guidance.
– Assist in the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and other inputs.
– Record field observations and prepare simple crop performance reports.
– Learn and implement sustainable farming practices.
– Provide support to farm staff in daily rice cultivation tasks.

Qualifications & Skills:
– Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field.
– Knowledge of basic rice farming principles is an advantage.
– Willingness to learn and follow guidance from senior agronomists.
– Good communication and teamwork skills.
– Strong observation and reporting abilities.

– Rice production: transplanting, irrigation, fertilization, and crop monitoring.
