Core Objective
Our client is looking for a Plant Manager to drive continuous improvement and optimization of all mining processes. The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They have to develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
- Allocate and monitor the utilization of financial resources according to mining objectives
- Increase production, assets capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards ensuring attainment of mining operations business targets.
- Be responsible for production output, product quality, and on-time shipping
- Review and regulate the commitment of resources to optimize the efficiency of resources to optimize mining operations by monitoring operations and triggering corrective actions
- Interpret mining operations risk to ensure the development of effective risk management plans
- Contribute to the compilation of risk logs and apply sound risk management practices
- Provide technical input for the mining operations to minimize possible risks
- Identify and coordinate the development of new technology and the application of best practice methodology by formulating guidelines for the application of the technology.
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
- Provide relevant and specialized technical support to applicable stakeholders
- Manage and monitor mining operations adherence to Safety and loss control goals and objectives as well as commit to plant safety procedures
- Oversee legal and environmental compliance (Custodian of Production Legal compliance)
- To evaluate the appropriateness of changes to statutory requirements and recommend changes to policy and legal requirements to enhance productivity.
- Oversee Health and safety compliance (enforcing the Mining Sector related Acts)
- Share a trusting relationship with the workgroup and recruit, manage and develop the performance of plant staff
Skills
- Proven work experience as a plant manager
- Proven managerial experience
- Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resources)
- Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise
- Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, inventory, and stewardship processes
- Computer literacy
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills
Qualifications & Experience
- Requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mining engineering, mineral process engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 Years (Open Pit Mining)
- Must have worked with the following equipment: Caterpillar, Hitachi, BELL, Liebherr, Komatsu
- Must have worked physically with equipment in engine and transmission rebuilding
- Must have worked with Cranes
- Valid driver’s license

Special Working Conditions
- You may be expected to work in accordance with the organization’s overtime policies.
- The nature of your role will require you to travel within the area that your team covers. However, from time to time you may be expected to travel outside that area as the job role requires.
