Job Description
She/He will be responsible for the day to day operations in Tanzania, ensuring customer satisfaction through continued quality improvement in service delivery. The candidate is entailed to maintain open communication regarding all technical matters as well as maintain a positive working relationship with the Country Manager, Regional Operation and Technical Managers, Regional General Manager, Executive Management team and the various stakeholders. The role will support the business by coordinating operations and reporting efficiently, improve quality of service from a technical point of view and develop the team. Likewise, the role will promote profitable business development within the company.

Responsibilities
Technical:
● Attend regularly sites at mines, warehouses, smelters and refineries in their coverage areas where inspections, sampling and sample preparation operations take place
● Continuously conduct site internal audits and operation inspections to evaluate the teams’ performances.
● Coordinate client complaints and implement corrective actions where needed.
● Coordinate new site setups according to clients’ instructions.
● Ensures client instructions are carried out in full as per appointments, efficiently and accurately communicate information in relation to events.
● Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and TSOPs for work on site.
● Reviews and approves inspection reports according to group standards prior to release to clients.
● Ensures health and safety protocols are adhered to and that the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) is available and used by the team he is working with.
● Maintains a correct environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
● Coordinates with his technical staff in regards to the site procedures to ensure the company and client’s interests are protected.
● Assist the Ops Manager with the daily operational feedback.
Operations Team Management:
● Recruits and trains local staff, manages leave and attendance of his team.
● Draft plans for Audits and team evaluations following protocol.
● Formulate strategic and technical objectives for teams.
● Control his team of supervisors and inspectors ensuring that activities are performed as per company documented procedures for the commodities in question.

Operations Performance Systems Management:
● Improve operational management systems and processes for best practices.
● Support on FIOR, GIOS, L&D and Group implementation projects.
● Promote the use of company digital tools.

Client-relations Management:
● Coordinate, attend meetings and arrange frequent visits to sites.
● Ensure effective customer support to all client enquiries related to technical.
● Review and respond to all enquiries regarding the Tanzania
Technical activities together with all the other managers.

Required Knowledge & Skills
• Good knowledge and understanding of inspection services
• Good knowledge of ISO standard (9001, 17020, 17025, etc.)
• Skills in examining and re-engineering practices and procedures, formulating policy, developing and implementing new strategies.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated creative solutions.
• Emotionally intelligent, persuasive and articulate, enabling cooperation and collaboration at all levels.

Work Experience
• Minimum 3years of relevant work experience directly related to the duties and
responsibilities specified.
• Proven success leading and contributing as a technical project/program manager in diverse projects ranging in scale from local to global impact.
• Must have previously supervised or managed direct reports.
• Exposure to and preferably operations experience in Tanzania and / or Africa.
• Experience and demonstrated success in working in a cross-border, international, matrix structure organization is an advantage.
• Experience of living/working in an emerging market would be an advantage.
• Able to demonstrate relevant experience with Metals & Mining.
• Experience within the TIC industry preferred.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or Masters in Engineering (chemical, metallurgy, geology, mining, etc.), Business or Management studies. This requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Travel / Rotation Requirements
• Travel will be required both domestically and internationally.
• Must have the ability for spontaneous travel.
• Must have a valid passport and ability to obtain visas as necessary.
• Must have a valid driving license.
