Quarry Manager<\/strong>
They will be responsible for ensuring that quarries, pits and opencast sites operate successfully. They will oversee all operations, both on site and in the office, manage staff, coordinate production and monitor all site systems.

Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong>
\u2022 Examining the materials produced to ensure that a high quality of product is maintained;
\u2022 Closely monitoring all areas of the quarry to ensure that extraction and processing work is carried out to the highest standard;
\u2022 Assessing equipment and production materials levels; undertaking regular site inspections and risk assessments in order to comply with all health and safety regulations;
\u2022 Checking that all vehicles on site are maintained to a good standard.
\u2022 Ordering new items as required;
\u2022 Liaising with staff on site and dealing with any technical or staffing challenges that arise;
\u2022 Balancing sales and output;
\u2022 Ensuring that key government health and safety legislation is implemented throughout the site;
\u2022 Altering the quarry\u2019s production system in accordance with the materials required;
\u2022 Liaising with sales and commercial teams;
\u2022 Maintaining up-to-date records and dealing with a range of paperwork;
\u2022 Keeping up to date with relevant government legislation and industry developments;
\u2022 Developing inspection systems and checklists;
\u2022 Checking that the quarry\u2019s production levels are maintained safely to schedule;
\u2022 Writing development proposals and reports;
\u2022 Managing and recruiting staff.
\u2022 Performance managing the production process and setting and monitoring targets;
\u2022 Providing the owner company with information and statistics on the quarry\u2019s performance;
\u2022 Developing links with local groups and organizations
\u2022 Managing and regulating the quarry\u2019s budget;

Requirements \/ Skills \/ Qualifications<\/strong>
\u2022 Bachelor’s degree in chemistry\/industrial chemistry, earth sciences, environmental sciences\/engineering, geology\/mining geology, geophysics, materials science
\u2022 A strong level of technical understanding of quarrying environments and extraction systems
\u2022 Excellent communication and influencing skills
\u2022 Ability to think strategically and to problem solve
\u2022 Capacity to make quick decisions and to think on your feet
\u2022 Commercial awareness
\u2022 Good IT skills
\u2022 Knowledge of health and safety issues and how they relate to practical working environments
\u2022 Flexible approach to work
\u2022 Strong customer service skills
\u2022 Good business and management skills
\u2022 Project-management skills
\u2022 Leadership qualities and team building skills
\u2022 Ability to tolerate noisy, dirty and uncomfortable working environments – some of the time.
\u2022 Minimum of 3-years work experience
\u2022 Candidate MUST<\/strong> be based in Lake Zone.
