Job Summary<\/strong>
Under the supervision of the Occupational Safety Auditor, the Coordinator assists in maintaining high safety, health, and environmental standards at all our client sites which includes drill sites, camps, laydowns, workshops, and accommodation facilities. The position encompasses
inspections, audits, training, investigations and advisory\/ and representative tasks. The EHS
Coordinator works in direct support of operations and includes surface and underground visits, day,
and night. This position will have a heavy weighting on environmental and sustainability aspects and
the successful candidate will need to have good experience in the environmental domain and a
thorough understanding of ISO 14001.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/strong>
The employee’s duties, without limitation, consist of:
\u2022 Ensure EHS fundamental are implemented at site level
\u2022 Cooperate with supervisors and managers and actively participate in the
EHS system elements and client programs.
\u2022 Conducted\/facilitate EHS Onboarding BITS modules
\u2022 Enter leading indicators and incident data and other required information into the Global EHS
Management System (GEMS) for trending indicators and action item closure
\u2022 Compilation of waste registers such waste oil, paper, foodstuffs, metal, batteries etc
\u2022 Compilation of recycling register
\u2022 Updating the Aspects and Impacts Register
\u2022 Collation of Scope 1 and 2 emissions data
\u2022 Collation of fuel usage data
\u2022 Tasks to support ESG initiatives
\u2022 Draft and implement site environmental plans
\u2022 Prepare teams for ISO 14001 and 45001 Audits as well as internal audits
\u2022 Do monthly Facility and environmental inspections
\u2022 Advising on requirements to minimize safety risks
\u2022 Develop and implement EHS policies (e.g., Incident reporting process)
\u2022 Conduct Incident Investigations
\u2022 Encourage standardisation of safety policies
\u2022 Keep records of safety incidents and propose corrective measures
\u2022 Organize and conduct EHS training plans
\u2022 Work with site managers and supervisors to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
\u2022 Draft and send various reports
\u2022 Liaison and reporting to official regulators on EHS issues
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:<\/strong>
\u2022 Proven experience as an environmental or EHS coordinator or in-depth knowledge of EHS
guidelines and practices (in the mining sector)
\u2022 Experience in reporting and policy development
\u2022 Experience in implementing EHS training programs
\u2022 MS Office Master’s
\u2022 Excellent communication and advisory skills
\u2022 Diligent with an analytical mind
\u2022 Perfectly Bilingual (Swahili and English)
\u2022 Valid Driver\u2019s and ability to drive in the mine site.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualification Preferences<\/strong>
\u2022 Lead Implementer or Auditor in ISO 14001
\u2022 Nebosh Certificates and or bachelor\u2019s degree Environmental Health and Safety
\u2022 OSHA Qualifications
\u2022 Current First Aid\/Advanced First Aid Certificates
\u2022 Other EHS qualifications pertinent to mining, construction or the environment
