Principal Accountabilities<\/strong>
\u2022 Academic delivery of modules.
\u2022 Carry out assessment, monitoring and evaluation of portfolio work, student presentations, design projects, examinations work, and provide academic and consultative support to students in their learning activities.
\u2022 Provide academic input on existing and new programmes and in programme development.
\u2022 Actively engage in research and appropriate scholarly activities.
\u2022 Liaise with Professional Bodies and Stakeholders.
\u2022 Participate in committees appropriate to courses and meeting convened by Management.
\u2022 Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of academic quality assurance arrangements.
\u2022 Contribute to future growth and development of the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism and the University.

Duties<\/strong>
The appointee will play an active role in the academic direction of courses including teaching, research, academic assessment and academic administration. The appointee should carry out such duties as are assigned by management including but not limited to:
\u2022 Teaching such assigned classes as deemed appropriate by management of the University, day or evening.
\u2022 Carrying out assessment, monitoring and evaluation of examinations work, and providing an academic and consultative support to students in their learning activities;
\u2022 Providing academic input on existing and new courses and course development;
\u2022 Engaging in research, consultancy and development work as appropriate;
\u2022 Participating in committees appropriate to courses and meetings convened by management;
\u2022 Maintaining appropriate records and making available information as required by management;
\u2022 Engaging in promotion including student recruitment as appropriate;
\u2022 Participating in development, implementation and maintenance of academic quality assurance arrangements;
\u2022 Participating in appropriate activities necessary to the development of their department\/school and the University;
\u2022 Directing and supervising the work of Tutor\/Demonstrator and taking academic responsibility for the academic standards of this work.

Specifications<\/strong>
Knowledge<\/strong>
\u2022 A first or second class honours degree in tourism from a recognised degree awarding authority
\u2022 A Master\u2019s degree in a related discipline from a recognised degree awarding authority.
[Note: Master\u2019s Degrees must have been obtained by thesis\/examination]<\/strong>

Skills and Experience<\/strong>
\u2022 Three years work experience subsequent to obtaining their primary degree.
\u2022 The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills both oral and written and be able to communicate effectively with students which is particularly important.
\u2022 Candidates should be IT Literate and have a high level of proficiency in MS Office;
\u2022 The ideal candidate should be highly motivated.
\u2022 Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual.
\u2022 Commitment to teaching, research and scholarly activity.
\u2022 Be flexible and can work on their own initiative and as part of a team.
