This position entails analyzing geological data, planning for geology-related projects visit sites of interest to study the earth and work on extractions and mining. This means you will need excellent organizational and project management skills. You should be comfortable with data and geologic modeling, as well as technological tools. Teamwork and communication skills are also important since you will collaborate with engineers, geophysicists or other scientists.
Responsibilities
\u2022\tPlan geology projects and field sampling events
\u2022\tSurvey sites and create logs and maps using GIS
\u2022\tGather and analyze geological data
\u2022\tCoordinate research programs
\u2022\tExamine the composition of samples and specimens
\u2022\tMeasure and test fossils, rocks, soil, ores and other material with the proper instruments
\u2022\tWrite reports on findings
\u2022\tConduct quality control on the suitability of material and inspect projects
\u2022\tStudy sites for developments, formations, hazards, and composition
\u2022\tInvestigate and evaluate natural resource deposits
\u2022\tConsult on various geology-related issues like waste management, resource management, gas extraction techniques and more
\u2022\tEnsure environmental and other regulations are met in construction and production projects
Requirements and skills
\u2022\tProven experience as a geologist
\u2022\tExperience with various geological techniques like mining, boring and numerical modeling
\u2022\tExperience using geology software (e.g. ArcGIS, Rockware) and other data and modeling tools (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, GoCAD)
\u2022\tFamiliarity with environmental regulations
\u2022\tGood knowledge of the attributes of ores, soil, minerals and other materials
\u2022\tAbility to handle and analyze data and 3D models
\u2022\tAn analytical mind
\u2022\tAttention to detail
\u2022\tGreat communication skills (oral and written)
\u2022\tOrganizational and teamwork ability
\u2022\tDegree in Geology or Geoscience
