Job Overview:
The Loading Marshal will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the loading and discharge operations of vehicles onto the vessel. The primary focus will be on ensuring the safety and secure transport of vehicles by overseeing the lashing procedures before departure and inspecting lashing upon arrival at the destination port. The Loading Marshal will provide guidance to vessel drivers, ensuring compliance with loading protocols, and will actively participate in optimizing loading efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Loading Oversight: Supervise and coordinate the loading and discharge of vehicles onto and from vessels, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational protocols.
Lashing Inspection: Play a crucial role in inspecting and confirming the proper lashing of vehicles before departure and upon arrival at the destination port to prevent any compromise during the voyage.
Driver Guidance: Provide clear instructions and guidance to vessel drivers, ensuring they follow loading procedures accurately and efficiently.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety regulations and guidelines during loading operations, identifying and addressing potential hazards to maintain a secure working environment.
Communication: Collaborate with port authorities, vessel crews, and other relevant personnel to communicate loading plans, address concerns, and optimize loading processes.
Efficiency Optimization: Actively participate in streamlining loading operations to enhance efficiency and contribute to timely departures.
Qualifications:
Diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in maritime safety or logistics management are a plus.
Proven experience in overseeing vessel loading operations, preferably in the automotive or shipping industry.
Strong understanding of lashing procedures and safety protocols related to the transport of vehicles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with various stakeholders.
